12. Synthesis, characterization and evaluation of nanocrystalline LiCrxCo1-xMn1.5O4cathode material for Lithium-ion Batteries

To improve the performance of cathode materials in Li-ion cells, various cathodematerials are being tried. LiMn2O4 is one of the candidate materials and substitution of Mn ions by transition metal ions improves the cell performance. Simple combustion method was employed to prepare stoichiometric spinel phases of LiCrxCo1-xMn1.5O4 powders. The average crystal size was 44 nm and chromium substitution did not alter the crystal sizes. Cyclic voltammetric and charge discharge studies revealed that LiCr0.1Co0.9Mn1.5O4 cathode material performed well in Li-ion cells.
